Tucked away on the southern coast of Western Australia, Cape Le Grand National Park is a slice of paradise that feels like it belongs on a postcard. As you drive towards the park, the scenery gradually shifts from rolling farmlands to striking coastal landscapes, hinting at the natural beauty that awaits.

The first thing that grabs your attention upon entering Cape Le Grand is the incredible colour of the water. The turquoise hues are so vivid they seem almost unreal, contrasting beautifully with the powdery white sands that stretch out along the shoreline. Lucky Bay, one of the park’s most famous beaches, is the perfect spot to kick off your shoes and sink your toes into the softest sand you’ll ever encounter. The bay is also home to some friendly locals—kangaroos! It’s not uncommon to see them lounging on the beach, adding a unique Aussie twist to your beach day.

Exploring further, the park offers a variety of trails that cater to all levels of hikers. The Frenchman Peak trail is a must for those seeking a bit of adventure. The climb to the summit is steep, but the panoramic views of the park and the Southern Ocean from the top are well worth the effort. On a clear day, you can see for miles, with the rugged coastline and distant islands creating a stunning backdrop.

If you prefer something more leisurely, the coastal walk from Hellfire Bay to Thistle Cove is perfect. This relatively easy trail hugs the coastline, providing endless photo opportunities and a chance to spot some of the local wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for dolphins frolicking in the waves or sea eagles soaring overhead.

One of the most striking aspects of Cape Le Grand is its tranquility. Even during peak season, it’s easy to find a quiet corner to call your own. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, hiking a trail, or simply sitting and soaking in the views, the park offers a sense of peace that’s hard to match.
