Tips
Composition - Lead in Lines
Lead-in-lines are elements of an image that aid in composition.
They introduce a sense of depth to an image and produce more dynamic results.
Used in conjunction with other compositional aids such as the ‘rule of thirds’ (
as seen in newsletter 1) images can really be made to stand out as well as take on a more structured appearance.
Use lead-in-lines to guide the viewer’s eye into your picture, taking them to important areas of the image. They can also be used to lead a viewer through a scene, introducing various elements of an image which then may be revisited and viewed in more detail.
Lead-in-lines can be made from anything that’s natural or man-made i.e. walls, roads, river, ripples in the sand.
Up and Coming
My next location shoot will be at Seal Rocks and the Pacific Palms area.
Weather permitting there should be some new images of these areas available from 1st March ’07.
Please feel free to send me an email if you are interested in seeing samples of the shoot or check out my website or gallery for more details.
In our next newsletter I’ll be detailing photographic courses that I’ll be running in Sydney. They will cater for beginners and intermediate level photographers.
